Today, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that Ohio’s same-sex marriage is unconstitutional.
FreedomOhio co-founder and Executive Director Ian James praised the court’s ruling in the following statement:
“Today, we celebrate a future in which every American can marry the one they love, honor and cherish until death do they part. We are incredibly touched by Ohio’s own Jim Obergefell and his late husband John Arthur, who took a stand for all Americans to have the freedom to marry. Their hard work and that of millions of others, means that loving and committed couples will be permitted to live and enjoy America’s true promise of freedom.”
FreedomOhio is the state’s largest LGBT equality organization with more than 62,000 members. The group has been working to bring their clear, concise and constitutionally sound 46-word amendment to Ohio voters since 2012. Today, they join the rest of the nation in celebrating this landmark decision.
